A Dual-Stage seatbelt is equipped with 2 gas charges. You can identify the number of gas charges by the two single connectors or wire plugs.

Extra Safety (pre-safe) Seatbelt Repair

I'm getting a code for a seatbelt that works fine?

Blown seat belts do not have to be locked and sometimes show no symptoms of fault. The airbag light and code does indicate that the seat belt is bad and will need to be repaired. Each seat belt is equipped with a gas-charge that if blown, will not work again. We fix these seat belts!

What is the difference between single-stage, dual-stage and triple-stage seatbelts?

The stage of the seat belt is identified by the number of gas-charges it is equipped with. Each charge will have its own connector or wire plug going to it. Inspect your seat belt and identify the number of charges or connectors it has. A single-stage seat belt has 1 plug, while a dual-stage seat belt has 2 plugs. A triple-stage seat belt will have 3 total charges.

How do I remove my old seatbelt?

The SRS airbag module is easy to remove and can be done without a professional mechanic. Though we strongly advise knowledgeable individuals removing an SRS module, it can be done at your own risk by following the easy steps:

1.Disconnect the negative terminal of your car’s battery and wait at least 5 minutes before proceeding.

2. Locate the SRS airbag unit. In most vehicles, it will be under the center console which, between the front seats under the dash or the front driver or passenger seat. Most SRS units will look similar to a metal enclosure and a yellow plug. Others will have a metal enclosure with a black cap.

3.Unbolt the unit and disconnect the wire harness or airbag plugs going to it.
